Dr. Ma has a broad background in molecular pharmacology and molecular biology and has been carrying out pharmacology of natural products for more than twenty years.
Dr. Ma has spent 10 years working within the Department of Pharmacology of Kunming Medical University, China as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. His role involved extensive teaching and research of pharmacology. His research focused on cardiovascular pharmacology, cancer pharmacology and neuro-pharmacology. He has successfully attracted a number of funding from The National Natural Science Foundation of China and local government research councils in China.
During his Ph.D. study, Dr. Ma focused on chemistry and pharmacology of anticancer agents from traditional medicinal plants at the Department of Cancer Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Sydney, Australia.
From 2002 to 2009, He worked in the National Center for Natural Products Research, the University of Mississippi, USA, and had been carrying out research on pharmacology of natural products and standardization of dietary supplements. He completed a number of projects from NIH, FDA and US Department of Agriculture. His work supported the center to attract and maintain competitive funding from NIH, FDA and US Department of Agriculture.
In September 2009, Dr. Ma joined the Center of Research Excellence in Natural Products Neuroscience where he conducted in binding assay and functional of opiate receptors and canbinoid receptors.
